Chapter Nine

There are three sides to every story. Your, Mine and the Truth.

One-thousand years ago, our grandmother and her older sister were captured after a viking raid on their home. That is a truth, no one will dispute it. It is the things that happened after that, that become puddled with different sides of the same story. Esther, young and naive as she was she looked to the love of the viking Mikael to protect her. Unknowingly turning her back on both her people and her sister. Dahlia, would suffer for her sister so as to protect her. A thing her sister would know nothing of. As they both made plans to protect them they began to take paths away from each other. Paths that would lead to the making of two curses.

The Firstborn Curse.

A promise of the firstborn of all of Esther's blood to her older sister. This would lead to her oldest daughter Freya being taken away as a child. This would shape the lives of herself and our family forever.

Some twenty years later, in the new world, the youngest of Esther and Mikaels children would die at the hands of wolves. Henrik's death, must like Freya's disappearance, reshaped our family. In doing so the second curse would come into being.

The Immortality Curse.

Though not the first immortals, they did become the first vampires. Faster and stronger than the wolves they became. However, not without cost. They hungered for blood, could no longer walk in the sun and were unable to enter a home without an invitation. Magic left them. And though they would find they could turn others, no more children would be born in our family...

Until us.

"When we're young, we're taught the distinction between a hero and a villain, good and evil, a savior and a lost cause. But what if the only real difference is just who's telling the story?"- Hope Mikaelson
